It is especially well known for the traditional Cheese Market and charming shopping streets. The picturesque village of Bergen is a few km away and larger cities, such as Amsterdam and Haarlem, are easily reached by train.

Another lovely day trip is a visit to the Zaanse Schans, a delightful old hamlet on the banks of the river Zaan with characteristic green wooden houses, gardens etc.

The name Stad en Land is the oldest existing hospitality name of Alkmaar. In our bar, restaurant and reception you can still find paintings from the past.
All rooms have been completely renovated in the past few years and are fresh, clean and meet all security requirements.
The rooms are equipped with standard facilities, including a big screen TV with film channels. All rooms also have 1 chair per guest, 2 towels per guest and shampoo and soap is provided.
